Little Elm ISD has filed plans with the state for a second round of construction at Little Elm High School, a $53 million project that would add an automotive shop and band halls and rework much of the existing building.
The district registered the project, titled "Little Elm High School P2 Additions and Renovations," with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The agency's architectural barriers program reviews building plans for accessibility, and its records give a project's scope, estimated cost and schedule.
What the filing describes
The new space totals 28,920 square feet. According to the filing, it covers:
- an auto shop for career and technical education (CTE) classes
- art classrooms
- band and percussion halls
The renovation side is larger, about 104,810 square feet of existing space. The record lists a new CTE cosmetology program area, a new kitchen and cafeteria, repurposed athletics space and a rearranged fine arts wing. The scope text in the state record is cut off at the end, after a reference to modernizing another part of the building.
The district's estimate puts the start of work at Jan. 4, 2027, and completion at Aug. 31, 2029. PBK Architects of Dallas is listed as the design firm, and the project is publicly funded, according to the record. The filing does not break down the $53 million by area.
Following a $110 million first phase
The school at 1900 Walker Lane is already in the middle of a bigger expansion.
