Little Elm ISD has been named a District of Distinction for career and technical education by the Career and Technical Association of Texas, the second year in a row the district has earned the title, according to an announcement the district posted Thursday afternoon.

The association says on its website that the recognition goes to districts that prepare students for the workforce through programs tied to industry demand and that set examples for other districts.

In its release, the district credited its CTE teachers, staff and students and said the courses are meant to help students explore interests, build job skills, earn industry certifications and get ready for college or work. The release did not list specific programs or say how many students take CTE classes.

A longer list this year

The association's 2026-27 list names 94 recipients, almost all of them school districts, compared with 71 on the 2025-26 list.

Several other North Texas districts also appear:

  • Lewisville ISD, Aubrey ISD, Plano ISD, Richardson ISD and Northwest ISD, all of which were on last year's list too
  • Frisco ISD, which was not on the 2025-26 list

Denton ISD does not appear on either year's list.

The district's announcement is posted on its news page, and the association's site carries the full recognition lists for both years.
