The Little Elm Animal Shelter is requesting public donations to cover the cost of surgery and additional veterinary care for a dog named Vera. The shelter estimates the total care will cost approximately $4,600.
Vera first arrived at the Little Elm Animal Shelter in May 2024 as a puppy and was subsequently adopted by a family. In June 2026, she was found as a stray and brought to a different animal control agency. According to the shelter, that agency was unable to reach Vera’s adopter and contacted the Little Elm facility to ask if they would accept her back.
The shelter stated that any dog that becomes part of their family always has a place with them, regardless of how much time has passed or where the animal is found.
