Hero Kanu has advanced to the semifinal stage for the William V. Campbell Trophy, according to an announcement Sept. 23 by the National Football Foundation. Kanu is a defensive lineman for Texas. No further details about his selection were provided.
The award considers a scholarship athlete’s academic work, on-field performance and leadership. Texas has placed a player among the finalists in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, while center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024.
