The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to play Baltimore at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with the condition of the field drawing questions on social media after Flamengo played there. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Dallas’ operations staff has been in contact with the league, and he said he is not worried about the playing surface.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the victory over Washington increased his optimism about the team. He also said he would spend money if needed to improve the roster, while pointing to the running game as an area that must get better.
Dallas recorded 266 passing yards and 66 rushing yards against Washington. Javonte Williams had 30 yards on 12 carries. Schottenheimer said the plan was to spread Washington’s defense and rely on the passing game, though he did not anticipate such a low rushing total.
Jones praised defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark for their early-season play. He called Williams among the NFL’s best players and said Clark’s steady performance has strengthened the middle of the defense. Jones also said Williams is not injured after appearing slow to get up following several plays.
