DeMarvion Overshown’s hamstring injury has led the Dallas Cowboys to promote Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron from the practice squad for their Week 2 meeting with the Washington Commanders. The game is scheduled to be Dallas’ home opener. The team has not given a timetable for Overshown’s return and opted for practice-squad reinforcements instead of signing a veteran.

Robinson and Barron add linebacker depth and are capable of contributing on special teams. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that rookie Jaishawn Barham will use the green-dot helmet while Overshown is unavailable.

Overshown also was one of three Cowboys fined by the NFL after Dallas lost 28-20 to the New York Giants in Week 1. His fine was $9,527 for a late hit against quarterback Jaxson Dart. Outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was assessed $11,941 for a fourth-quarter facemask, and running back Javonte Williams received the same amount for unsportsmanlike conduct involving taunting.

Blogging The Boys reported that Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ offense will challenge Dallas’ linebackers and safeties, with improved interior defensive play identified as an important issue. Von Miller, who logged 11 snaps in his Dallas debut against New York after spending the 2025 season with Washington, could also receive attention. No further information on Overshown’s injury was provided.
