The Houston Texans have strengthened their roster with significant signings during training camp, including former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney and defensive lineman Mario Edwards. However, the team has not prioritized changes to its wide receiver lineup, choosing to depend on younger players already on the team.
As the regular season approaches, the Texans' opportunities to secure a notable wide receiver are diminishing. Recent signings have seen top talents like Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs, and Keenan Allen join other franchises, leaving Houston with limited options.
While Tyreek Hill remains unsigned, worries regarding his recovery from a torn ACL make his signing unlikely. Other available receivers, such as Curtis Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Tyler Lockett, and DeAndre Hopkins, are not expected to significantly enhance the Texans' current roster.
The Texans may opt to stick with their existing wide receiver group, featuring players like Nico Collins as a potential WR1 and Jayden Higgins as a candidate for WR2. Additionally, contributions from Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson are anticipated, along with a healthy Tank Dell playing a role.
Despite not securing a major addition, the Texans' front office seems to have confidence in their current wide receiver situation. With over $20 million in cap space available, they retain the flexibility to make future adjustments if needed, but the likelihood of adding another impactful wide receiver before the season starts appears low.
