The Houston Texans are facing significant challenges as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season after wide receiver Jayden Higgins was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his absence is felt, particularly as fellow receivers Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell are also dealing with injuries.

In light of this situation, the Texans are reportedly looking into free agency for veteran wide receivers, including Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a productive 2023 season with 40 catches totaling 608 yards and five touchdowns.

Zay Jones, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, had a strong showing in 2022 with 82 receptions for 823 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite facing challenges in recent seasons, both Reynolds and Jones are being considered to strengthen the receiving group. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Texans are conducting workouts for free agent receivers, with both Reynolds and Jones on their list of potential signings.

With Higgins out for the remainder of the season, the Texans may depend on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to perform alongside star receiver Nico Collins. The team's interest in Reynolds and Jones indicates a desire for experienced talent to enhance their offensive capabilities, although further details on potential signings remain unclear.
