Nico Collins will miss Houston’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a Grade 1 hamstring injury sustained during Wednesday’s practice. He also sat out the team’s final two practices of the week before being designated out on the Texans’ final injury report.
The wide receiver’s status for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined. Aaron Wilson reported that Collins is still being evaluated, and no additional information about his return was provided.
Collins opened the season with seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s 36-31 defeat by Buffalo. He has been one of the Texans’ most productive offensive contributors during the last three seasons. Against Cincinnati, Houston expects several players to share his role, including Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel. Jayden Higgins is unavailable for the season after an ACL injury.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in the opener, giving Houston multiple receiving options as the Texans seek their first victory of the season.
