Duran decides it late
Duran’s ground-rule double in the bottom of the ninth scored Burger and moved Seager to third, giving the Texas Rangers a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field.
Duran drove in four of Texas’ five runs with three run-scoring hits. His final one came after San Francisco tied the game in the top of the ninth, and it capped a back-and-forth finish.
Rangers build the first lead
Texas went ahead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and sending Seager to third for a 1-0 lead. Duran followed with a single to right that scored Seager and moved Nimmo to third, making it 2-0.
San Francisco pulled even in the top of the seventh on the game’s only home run. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot drive that scored Gilbert and tied it at 2.
The Rangers moved back in front in the bottom of the eighth. Duran doubled to right, bringing in Langford and Seager while Nimmo advanced to third, and Texas led 4-2.
San Francisco answered in the top of the ninth. Eldridge singled to right, scoring Gilbert and McCray to tie the game at 4 before Duran delivered the final run in the bottom half.
