Trained hawks, owls and falcons are coming to Little Elm Public Library next week, part of a busy stretch of fall programs on the library's event calendar.
Education specialists from the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will bring the birds to the council chambers conference room on Monday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 3 p.m., to show children and adults why raptors matter to the environment.
An hour later, at 3:30 p.m. in the program room, a family session takes the owl theme further: participants will pick apart sterile owl pellets, the undigested bits owls cough up, to see what the birds ate.
Before that: a haunted library
On Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to noon, the library turns two study rooms into an escape room called "The Haunted Library." Players take the role of ghost explorers working through puzzles in an old library said to be haunted by its founding librarian.
Weather talk on Oct. 14
Chelsea the Storm Chaser visits Wednesday, Oct. 14. She reads to preschoolers and talks about weather safety at 11 a.m. in the program room, then gives a presentation on Texas weather and storm preparedness from 2 to 3 p.m. in the council chambers.
For adults, a professional insurance agent will walk through Medicare basics on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
