Little Elm had Braswell on the ropes at halftime Friday night. The second half belonged to the Bengals.

Braswell beat the Lobos 48-42 in a District 5-6A game at Denton ISD's Bill Carrico Athletic Complex, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported. Little Elm led 28-14 at the break before Braswell ran off 28 unanswered points to go ahead 42-28 early in the fourth quarter.

The Lobos kept answering. After Braswell stretched the margin to 48-35 on a 68-yard touchdown run with 4:22 to play, followed by a missed extra point, Little Elm scored again to pull within six with 1:48 left. Braswell then picked up a first down and ran out the clock, according to the Record-Chronicle.

Where the Lobos stand

The loss drops Little Elm to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in district play, its third straight defeat, MaxPreps reported. The Lobos opened district with a 24-21 loss to Hebron on Sept. 25 after an unbeaten preseason, a turnaround from two straight winless seasons, Star Local Media reported at the time, and have since also lost to Flower Mound.

Braswell improved to 5-1 and 2-1 in the district and, according to the Record-Chronicle, is in position to chase its second playoff berth and first since 2019.
