CeeDee Lamb’s second touchdown of the game also made Dak Prescott the Cowboys’ career leader in touchdown passes. Lamb’s 24-yard catch in the fourth quarter was Prescott’s 249th touchdown pass, moving him past Tony Romo’s franchise record of 248, according to The Associated Press. Dallas defeated Washington 37-20 at AT&T Stadium to move to 1-1 after opening the season with a 28-20 loss at the New York Giants.
Lamb caught eight passes for 153 yards. His 3-yard reception opened the scoring, and he has now caught 37 touchdown passes from Prescott, more than any other player. The AP reported that Lamb gave Prescott the record ball after the play. “That made me emotional,” Prescott said, according to the AP. Prescott completed 26 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Jake Ferguson caught the other two scores, from 10 and 12 yards.
Dallas had no turnovers, while rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble that Dee Winters recovered inside the Washington 20. Ferguson scored two plays later. Brandon Aubrey made field goals from 25, 44 and 60 yards and all four extra points. Washington held the ball longer, 31:29, gained 389 yards to Dallas’ 332 and ran for 182 yards. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels left with a dislocated left elbow, and coach Dan Quinn said imaging showed no fracture. Marcus Mariota finished the game. Dallas next plays Baltimore in Brazil on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 3:25 p.m. Central at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
