Little Elm, Texas — State and federal leaders gathered at the Port of Brownsville on Wednesday to break ground on a $3 billion maritime manufacturing facility designed to construct both autonomous and crewed vessels for national defense and commercial fleets.

The Port Alpha development, spearheaded by Saronic Technologies at the Port of Brownsville, represents one of the largest private capital investments in state history. Officials project the initiative could yield as many as 10,000 industrial jobs while generating roughly $264.5 billion in long-term statewide economic output. Upon completion, the complex is scheduled to introduce 150,000 gross tons in yearly shipbuilding volume, effectively doubling current commercial vessel production across the United States.

"For ten years, Texas has ranked number one in the United States for creating new jobs, and Port Alpha will build on that record to strengthen Texas’ workforce and shape the arc of national security." — Texas Governor Greg Abbott

To support operational staffing, the developer is collaborating with regional educational institutions and Cameron County authorities to build technical training programs, engineering pipelines, and specialized apprenticeships. Wednesday’s ceremony drew federal and regional leaders, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr., Under Secretary of Commerce William Kimmitt, Saronic Chief Executive Dino Mavrookas, and members of Congress.

In Little Elm, situated along Lewisville Lake in Denton County, the major South Texas development reflects the state's emphasis on industrial job creation and workforce training programs.
