Aubrey is about 10 miles north of Little Elm. East of Pilot Point, a planned development would combine housing with restaurants, fast-food locations and large retail stores where firearm sales would be permitted.
The project, named Pilot Point Town Center, covers 102 acres. Midas Investments bought 53.8 acres, and GC Land Partners acquired another 49 acres. Pilot Point’s City Council approved zoning for the property and a $15 million incentive package in May.
The zoning allows buildings of up to four stories and as many as 28 housing units per acre. Plans also call for trails connecting the residential and business portions of the project. The site is roughly one mile north of Lantern, a Hillwood development expected to have 2,000 homes and supported by a reported $1.2 billion investment.
Nearby developments include Bryson Ranch from Centurion American, planned for 3,000 homes, and Green Brick Partners’ 586-acre Waterside project. FM 1385 and U.S. Highway 380 offer access to the area. Pilot Point is approximately 52 miles from the interior of Dallas-Fort Worth and about 45 miles by car from Thackerville, identified in the report as the closest Oklahoma city.
