Service interruptions affected residents and businesses in Little Elm, Lakewood Village, and Oak Point following damage to a natural gas pipeline. The incident occurred when a third-party contractor struck the line on the morning of September 21, 2026. Atmos Energy confirmed the outage at 11 a.m. on that date.
The Oak Point Police Department indicated that repair work was scheduled to finish by 8 a.m. on September 22, 2026. In a statement posted on its website, Atmos Energy emphasized that public safety and system integrity are its top priorities. The utility company asked customers to remain patient and cooperative while technicians work to restore service safely and efficiently.
The company also noted that its staff would need to access natural gas meters during the restoration process.
Traffic disruptions accompanied the repair efforts. The Oak Point Police Department reported that Hill Lane was closed in both directions between Oak Grove Parkway and East Dickson Lane. Additionally, traffic entering and exiting the Wellington Trace neighborhood was redirected to the rear of the Waters Gate Community, located at the intersection of Windsor Drive and Waters Edge Way.
