White Castle has officially broken ground on its first location in North Texas, marking the fast-food chain's entry into the Lone Star State. The Ohio-based company, which has operated for 105 years and opened more than 330 sites nationwide, announced the development on Thursday. The Colony, situated approximately 6 miles southeast of Little Elm, will host the new restaurant.

In local lottery news, a resident of The Colony has been identified as the winner of a Texas Two Step jackpot exceeding $1 million. The prize was secured through a single ticket purchased by the individual.

Emergency responders addressed a significant incident involving a residential explosion early Monday morning. The blast leveled one home located just off Main Street and caused fire damage to adjacent properties. The event occurred shortly before 1 a.m., with flames spreading to multiple nearby houses.

Separately, authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with an October house fire in The Colony. Officials stated that the individual is suspected of intentionally setting the blaze last month.

Other community updates include the opening of Toca Social, described as the first permanent soccer social club in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, coinciding with preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, a business owner in The Colony is appealing for assistance in identifying the person who vandalized a mobile unit known as the "Adventure Doggy Bus."

In broader regional news, a joint law enforcement operation in Cooke County led to the arrest of two individuals, including a Gainesville ISD employee, for online solicitation of minors. A former Lewisville ISD teacher was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of a student, with investigators noting discrepancies in the victim's initial account regarding the timing and attendance of the after-school club. A man was also recovered from Lewisville Lake after drowning while boating on Friday afternoon. In Frisco, police located a stolen vehicle after the victim spotted it on social media being used by thieves in a multi-community crime spree.
