The Houston Texans are preparing for their preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on August 20, facing challenges due to injuries. Wide receiver Jayden Higgins has been lost for the entire season after suffering a torn ACL, which significantly affects the team's offensive unit led by quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Despite the setback, Stroud is expected to participate in the game, likely playing a few series, potentially up to 25 plays. The first-string offensive line is anticipated to start, while the first-team defense will not be on the field.
With Higgins sidelined, Stroud will rely heavily on wide receiver Nico Collins, who had a strong season last year with 71 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. Other receivers, including Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel, will also need to contribute. Dell has a history of strong chemistry with Stroud but missed last season due to injury.
Noel, drafted shortly after Higgins, was college teammates with him at Iowa State.
The Texans aim to solidify their offensive strategy as they navigate the impact of these injuries on their game plan for the upcoming season.
