The Dallas Cowboys have secured two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller with a one-year contract, aiming to bolster their pass rush. Miller, who leads active players with 136.5 career sacks, had 9.0 sacks last season while with Washington.

However, the signing has not been universally praised. Former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus, now an analyst at 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, has voiced significant concerns, calling the move low-impact and potentially harmful.

He pointed out that Miller's recent performance does not meet the expectations of a starter, suggesting that he might not have been signed if he were not a prominent name in the league.

Broaddus highlighted that Miller lacks the crucial speed and closing ability needed for a top-edge rusher. He mentioned that the Cowboys might be better served by utilizing James Houston, who could be affected by the signing. Pro Football Focus ranked Miller 66th among edge rushers last season, while Houston was rated 49th.

In response to the critiques, Miller defended his signing by emphasizing his potential to contribute off the field as well. During his introductory press conference, he expressed confidence in his ability to enhance the performance of his teammates, stating that his contributions extend beyond just playing well. The full implications of Miller's signing, both on-field and off, are still unclear.
