Shadre Hurst, an offensive guard for the University of Houston, has been named to the Preseason AP All-American First Team, as announced by the football program. This accolade reflects Hurst's outstanding contributions to the team.
Earlier this month, he was also featured on the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. Hurst has a prior connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their tenure at Tulane, where he achieved All-American status and received All-AAC honors in The American Conference.
Notably, Hurst has shown remarkable performance on the field, holding an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. Throughout over 1,200 passing snaps, he has permitted only one sack, underscoring his dependability.
In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest-graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and was ranked sixth nationally among guards by Pro Football Focus (PFF). During his time at Tulane, Hurst played a pivotal role in winning three conference championships from 2022 to 2025, maintaining an impressive record of just one sack allowed over four years.
The Cougars will kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
